Key Features
- Cold Hammer-Forged Barrel – Why it matters: This barrel is tougher and more accurate than button-rifled barrels, holding sub-2″ groups at 15 yards even after thousands of rounds. The target crown protects the muzzle crown from damage during holster wear.
- Optic-Ready Slide – Why it matters: The direct-mount cut fits Shield RMSc and Holosun K-series footprints without adapter plates, keeping the optic low enough to co-witness with the factory tritium front sight.
- 1″ Wide Slide – Why it matters: At just one inch wide, this pistol slides into an IWB holster without printing, making it one of the slimmest 9mm micro-compacts on the market.
- Two Magazines Included – Why it matters: You get a flush-fit 10-round mag and an extended 10-round mag with a grip extension, giving you options for concealment or a full grip.
- Tritium Front Sight – Why it matters: The tritium insert glows for up to 10 years, so you can acquire a sight picture in total darkness without relying on a weapon light.
Who It’s For
The FN Reflex MRD is for the daily carrier who wants a micro-compact that doesn’t feel like a compromise. It’s for shooters who prefer a hammer-forged barrel over a cheaper MIM part, and who want an optic-ready slide out of the box without sending the slide to a machine shop. If you carry AIWB or pocket-carry and demand 9mm terminal performance in a sub-17-ounce package, this is your pistol.
Pros & Cons
- Pro: Cold hammer-forged barrel with target crown – rare in micro-compacts, delivers match-grade accuracy.
- Pro: Factory RMSc/Holosun K footprint – no adapter plates needed, keeps optic low.
- Con: Trigger pull is 5.5–6.5 lbs out of the box – some shooters may prefer a lighter trigger for competition; aftermarket upgrades are limited as of 2025.

FAQ
Does the FN Reflex MRD come with optic mounting screws?
Yes. The pistol includes mounting screws for both Shield RMSc and Holosun K-series footprints. You do not need to buy aftermarket screws. Per FN specs, the screws are pre-applied with thread locker, but you should torque them to 12 in-lbs per the optic manufacturer’s instructions.
What holsters are compatible with the FN Reflex MRD?
The Reflex MRD fits most holsters designed for the FN Reflex (non-MRD) model. Because the slide width is identical at 1.0″, retention is unaffected. We recommend Kydex holsters from Vedder or Tulster for AIWB carry. Leather holsters may require a break-in period.
Can I use +P ammunition in the FN Reflex MRD?
Yes. The cold hammer-forged barrel and stainless steel slide are rated for +P 9mm ammunition. Per FN’s manual, +P ammo increases wear on springs, so you should replace the recoil spring every 1,500 rounds if you shoot mostly +P. Standard pressure 115-grain FMJ is fine for routine training.
What is the trigger pull weight on the FN Reflex MRD?
The factory trigger pull is 5.5–6.5 pounds. It uses a flat-faced trigger with a short reset. Some shooters find the trigger a bit heavy for competition, but it’s appropriate for a defensive carry pistol. Aftermarket triggers from companies like Apex Tactical are expected in late 2025.
Does the FN Reflex MRD have a loaded chamber indicator?
Yes. There is a visual loaded chamber indicator on the top of the slide directly behind the ejection port. It is a red dot that rises when a round is chambered. It is visible in daylight but requires a glance to confirm.
