Key Features

  • Threaded barrel (M13.5×1 LH): Factory 4.7-inch hammer-forged barrel lets you mount a suppressor or compensator without sending the gun to a smith. The threads are protected by a factory-installed thread cap.
  • Optics-ready slide with adapter plates: The VTX slide is cut for a multi-footprint plate system, so you can mount an RMR, Holosun, or Leupold without milling the slide. Plates are sold separately, but the gun comes with the standard cover plate.
  • Suppressor-height three-dot sights: These steel sights are tall enough to give you a lower 1/3 co-witness through most red dots. You can still use the irons if the dot fails, no tools needed to swap.
  • VP9A1 K ergonomics with paddle mag release: HK’s proven paddle release is ambidextrous and fast once you train with it. The frame has replaceable grip panels (small, medium, large) to fit your hand.
  • Two 15-round magazines included: Full-capacity mags for the compact frame. The mags have a steel body and polymer base pad with a slight flare for smoother reloads.

Who It’s For

This is for the shooter who wants a do-it-all compact: carry, home defense, and suppressed range sessions. If you already run a red dot on your rifle or pistol, the VTX cut saves you the cost and wait of slide milling. The threaded barrel makes it a natural suppressor host for 9mm cans like the Obsidian 9 or Octane 9. It’s also a solid choice for duty use if your department allows optics and suppressors.

Pros / Cons

  • Pro: Factory threaded barrel with suppressor-height sights — no aftermarket parts needed to run a can.
  • Pro: Optics cut works with most popular dot footprints via adapter plates.
  • Pro: Two 15-round mags in the box, plus the VP9 reliability HK is known for.
  • Con: The optic adapter plates are sold separately, which adds $30–$60 to your setup cost. HK doesn’t include a plate in the box.
  • Con: The paddle mag release has a learning curve if you’re used to a button release. It’s fast once you train, but not for everyone.

FAQ

Does this gun come with optic mounting plates?

No. The VP9A1 K Tactical VTX ships with a standard cover plate only. Adapter plates for specific optic footprints (RMR, DeltaPoint Pro, Holosun 509T, etc.) are sold separately by HK or third-party makers like C&H Precision. Budget $30–$60 for the plate.

Can I run a suppressor without changing the sights?

Yes. The factory suppressor-height sights are tall enough to see over most 9mm suppressors. They give you a lower 1/3 co-witness with most red dots, so you can use the irons through the window of the dot.

What thread pitch is the barrel?

The barrel has a 1/2×28 thread pitch (standard for 9mm) with a factory thread protector. It’s compatible with most 9mm suppressors and compensators.

Is this the same frame as the standard VP9?

Almost. The VP9A1 K uses the same VP9 platform but with a shorter grip (compact) and a 15-round magazine. The grip panels are interchangeable with standard VP9 frames.

How does the paddle mag release work?

The paddle release is located in the trigger guard, on both sides of the frame. You push it downward with your trigger finger (right-hand shooters) or middle finger (left-hand shooters) to drop the mag. It’s ambidextrous and fast once you practice the motion.
